ADHD in the Work Place
Living with ADHD and CPTSD: ADHD in the Work Place
Last month we brought mental health to the discussion, this month we wanted to keep exploring neurodiversity and really how we help everyone bring their authentic selves to the workplace. We believe that means educating ourselves about all things that could impact how a person feels and functions at work - including this months topic ADHD. Side note - we found this quick primer on neurodiversity quite useful to share as well: https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/what-is-neurodiversity-202111232645
The episode is from a series we haven’t listened to before - Living with ADHD and CPTSD - and I found the bravery and honesty of the host to be very refreshing. The episode itself talks about some of the common signs that those with ADHD deal with every day, and how we might help manage and support those situations better.
If your group is like our small discussion group - it is highly likely you may have a few folks in the group that deal with ADHD or that have close family members or friends that do. I think almost all of us walked away with some useful insight.
Suggested discussion questions (if you need something to start the conversation):
Does your workplace have a number of things that you might consider hectic/interruptions/distractions? How do you think these might be extra challenging for folks with ADHD?
Does your workplace offer ADHD diagnosis as part of their health benefits? If yes, it may be worth knowing more so you can share. If no, perhaps something to ask for better future coverage?
What’s are things you think we might be able to do to better support those around us that may have ADHD? Particularly in the workplace.
