Knowing When and How to Fight

The Moth Radio Hour: Knowing When And How To Fight

I’ve been wanting to feature The Moth podcast since we started the Ally Podcast Club as it was one of the earliest podcast series that I started listening to way back in the day. The core concept of The Moth is simple - people sharing short stories. It’s amazing how much laughter, emotion, tears, and connection can come from a simple story.

These particular stories just seemed incredibly relevant to speaking up, standing up, and allyship in general. We often talk about allyship as a verb, allyship as a practice… but sometimes stories that show allyship in action are so important to remind us what it looks like in the moment.

Suggested discussion questions (if you need something to start the conversation):

  • What emotions did these stories bring up for you? Could you relate to the stories?

  • One word that comes to mind when listening to these stories is trust. Thoughts on trust amongst people? Trust in society and with strangers?
