When Feedback Fails
When Feedback Fails: Repairing Relationships After Feedback is Ignored
The month of November is a month at our workplace where we do one of our twice annual “check-ins” on performance and a big part of that process is giving and receiving feedback. So as Anna and I set out to find a podcast this month we were hoping to find something related to the topic of feedback.
Who knew that one of my favorite “work” books Radical Candor by Kim Scott also had a podcast series?
Turns out the Radical Candor podcast is rich with material, and we highly recommend you check more of it out. For this episode the hosts Jason and Amy tackle a listener’s question about a challenging workplace feedback scenario including a role-play which we found enlightening and entertaining. We found it incredibly useful as a group and incredibly timely.
Suggested discussion questions (if you need something to start the conversation):
Have you ever had a situation at work where you felt like your feedback was ignored?
Have you ever received feedback at work that was hard to hear and/or hard to see at first?
What did you think of the role-playing? Do you think it could be useful to prepare for a feedback conversation with role-playing?
