Code Switch: Who Counts In 2020?

https://www.npr.org/2020/03/31/824922461/who-counts-in-2020

This was a fascinating episode about how the US Census which is happens every 10 years (including this year - 2020) is both beneficial to minorities and undeserved communities, but at the same time has a history of discrimination and systemic racism that makes the system hard to trust. It’s a double edged sword.

Suggested discussion questions (if you need something to start the conversation):

  • Do you trust the government and the census process?

  • Did you personally fill it out this year? Why or why not?

  • How do you feel about census data being used by corporations?
